ADRAFINIL - Nootropics

60 caps (250mg)

Adrafinil is a eugeroic precursor drug to modafinil, which means Adrafinil is metabolized in the body to produce Modofinil. Both are stimulants with no amphetamine-like effects. It is a synthetic nootropic compound, formally used in France and sold under the trade name Olmifon.

Adrafinil is a non-amphetamine psychostimulant. It reduces drowsiness but does not increase the heart rate or anxiety. It increases alertness, attention, wakefulness and mood. Adrafinil is a stimulant, but it does not cause hyperactivity.

Adrafinil is unscheduled in the United States, Canada, and the UK. This means it is neither approved or controlled and does not require a prescription.

  • Improves awareness and focus. In multiple studies of 744 older adults, Adrafinil increased attention, concentration and vigilance.
  • Improves mental and physical function. Adrafinil improved thought and movement compared to an antidepressant (Clomipramine) in a study of 70 depressed older adults.
  • Reduces depression symptoms. Adrafinil reduces symptoms of depression similar to Clomipramine.
  • Improves memory. In studies of 951 older patients Adrafinil reduced forgetfulness, and improved information recalls.
  • Improves reaction speed. It reduced reaction time in psychological tests done on elderly adults.
  • May improve learning
  • May increase movement and activity

Adrafinil works vicariously through Modafinil. It becomes active by converting to Modafinil in the liver. Adrafinil’s effects and mechanisms are therefore identical to Modafinil’s.

Adrafinil has few side effects. It is well-tolerated in most studies. However, a small number of participants noted increased stress and aggression, nausea, irregular heartbeat, dry mouth, stomach pain and skin irritation.

Long term supplementation of Adrafinil without breaks should be avoided, since it is metabolized into Modafinil in the liver.

The recommended dose is 500mg to 1000mg split up throughout the day. Taking it in the late afternoon should be avoided as this may impair sleep.

Do not take Adrafinil continuously for no longer than five months.

Both Adrafinil and Modafinil are banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a nonspecific stimulant compound.
